Final Project Proposal
So it has to utilize the computer in its creation but appear as if it could have been something else? Hm...it seems like we have a lot of free reign with this piece, in that case...
For a while, I've had this weird, crazy idea for my own original murder mystery-fantasy story that might work for this.... For the original story I mentioned above, I would like to create one concept art piece, almost like an illustration you may see in a children's book (the utopian/dystopian project comes to mind), that is at most 11 x 17 inches in size. It'll be a lot like a movie trailer poster illustration/design in terms of composition. I plan to sketch the drawing on paper, scan said drawing into the computer, then paint the thing on Photoshop. I guess that the concept behind this piece would be to, in a sense, illustrate this personal-fantasy series that doesn't even exist...yet. I guess it's like a trailer in illustration form...? There is a term for something like that, but I don't remember. Anyways, this will be like a...demo poster of sorts. Also, it is something I've kinda wanted to do for a while, so it'll be more personal than anything.

Why Twerk When You Can Work?
For a recent EMAC assignment, we had a "client" (who was really another classmate) who requested a product from us and we were to answer to their demands. My client wanted a health pamphlet warning high school students about the dangers of twerking and I was told to make it colorful and cringe-worthy with really bad puns, so this was completely outside of my comfort zone. Furthermore, I could not find any potential dangers for twerking! Every site I looked at was all "the new way to stay fit," "the new way to stay healthy," "the new way to lose weight,"; so I had to make something up!!!!

Recipe for So-called Success
Here is my Typography Recipe Exercise completed. I actually have a pajama set where on the shirt is a brownie recipe, which is where I got the idea for the arrangement.

Utopian/Dystopian Future
So my Utopian Future is in the form of a comic, or more specifically, manga. For some odd reason or another, I almost instantly thought of the anime club and of my ex-boyfriend/really close guy friend at home, Alex. In both cases, whenever I am with either company, most of the time is spent on the Internet watching anime episodes, so for me, technology is something that unifies people. I mean, who doesn't like watching a movie or a television show with their friends? For my friends and I, that bonding time is spend on anime. That is why I chose a mange like style for my cartoon. However, I decided not to draw it on the computer because a lot of professional manga artists draw their stories by hand on paper and send it to editors and such, but the text is generally done on the computer. So in this particular project, the only part Photoshop plays here is text, which is important, since comics do tend to run with dialogue. It was difficult to do, since even though I read a lot of manga, it was the first time I actually tried to make panels and such. Anyways, the reason the final work is not printed is because here, while a lot of manga series can be purchased in prints, many fans tend to read them online, something similar to how people will check the news online rather than purchasing a newspaper. Plus, I think that fact that it remains in the computer adds to the technology factor. To me, no matter how it evolves, the role technology plays will never truly change. Uniting us. .....wow, that sounded so cheesy....

Photoshop Painting Exercise
Here's the Photoshop painting exercise I did. The line drawing (or sketch) is of a part of Penn Station that I draw once during Intro for Illustration out of boredom (since I got all the sketches I needed). The time of day was definitely not different, I did not originally draw this at night. Anyways, I had a lot of fun with this. It's the first Photoshop painting I did in forever! It was fun trying to recall and remake certain details I missed when I first sketched this! .....I can't help but feel I may have gotten too carried away.....it's just been so long since I did something on Photoshop......
